So last Tuesday was the annual "inform the fire brigade that Greybeard will be having candles on his cake" day - as a result, several stations are put on high alert.
Unfortunately, I'm working away from home, at the moment, so the ceremony had to be postponed until Friday evening, along with opening my presents.
And, what do you know, Mrs Greybeard bought hubby a brand new Peavey Valve King Royal 8 amplificator device.
Initial results point to a really nice warm clean sound, but I've a lot of experimenting still to do
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

Congratulations, Greybeard! Looks like the Burns is in for some serious work as soon as you're home-based again!

Thanks, Vic.
It's currently attached to my Washburn, with a couple of pedals in between, but sounds pretty nice, all on it's own. I've got to redo the stuff that I put up on soundclick, so I'll probably try going through the amp and mic'ing it, into the PC.
It also has a headphone output that I've yet to try out

Looks like a nice little amp. Have fun with it! 8)

And.....how cool is Mrs Beard? What a woman! To put up with your partner's whims/hobbies is one thing - to feed his/her (harmless) addiction is another. You're a lucky man, Graham!!!!

Happy B-day!
Congrats on the amp.

Happy Birthday, and congratulations on the great choice of wife and amp...
From what I read, that's a very good amp.
Wives and children - most of the time they serve as an anchor (no wonder the cockneys call them the 'ball and chain'!) but just occasionally they do things like that and we remember why we love 'em so much!!
Enjoy playing the bejabbers out of that amp!!

Thanks, folks.
When I get some time, I'll try and record a few snippets, via mic (never done that before, though)
