How badly do worn frets effect your playing? I have an electric guitar that Needs some maintainence

I've had some really worn guitar frets. If it still plays clean sound not so much but I've had one guitar so bad that I had trouble string stretching because it would get snagged on a groove. Those hammer on pull offs wear frets fast. String stretching does too just different type of wear pattern
