I've been playing for a while, my usual warmup is 15 minutes of scales and chords. Today I decided to give it a try on the 12 string. I'm thinking if I don't get tendonitis that this is a great finger strength exercise. Anyone else done this, I find it quite difficult.

I honestly didn't touch a 12 string until hand strength wasn't an issue anymore. This is one area where private lessons can come in really handy. There's a fine line between discomfort you should push thru and something that can cause long term damage.

I think I'd suggest: do anything that keeps you on a guitar. Stop if there's real pain tho. Sometimes you'll have to push thru. Just don't push too much. Sorry that's not THAT helpful :/
