I saw a video of someone demonstrating an Ibanez Montage and was pretty much blown away. I'm a real beginner, I've got real basic electric guitar and amp. My girlfriend's got a 12 string acoustic that's strung as a 6 string at the moment, so I play around on that as well. She doesn't really play her guitar at all, and I think I've about got her convinced to look at trading it in and going in on the Ibanez.

What do you folks think? Anyone have one of these? Sounds so nice, and looks sweet too. I think it'd be great to play around on acoustic and electric so easily without having to switch guitars.

Here's the video:

Looks pretty nice, i like the design of it. Certainly seems like a versatile instrument. Built in tuners ARE always a plus aswell! :D

If i were you i'd seriously consider it...

Thats impressive. I like the guitar and the guys talent.

If that sort of thing floats your boat, have you considered a Variax? It might be cheaper and have more 'guitars' on board. Here's a demo of a few of the sounds:

Its the Variax electrics in a hand built chassis.

Amazing what can be done these days.

I shouldn't open threads like this, because now I want one. MF says it can be pre-ordered, and the prices seem reasonable.

I also found that Line 6 Variax to be very impressive, but it has too many bells and whistles for my taste, and it is out of my price range. I really like the modelings of different instruments. I had to rewind and play the Sitar part again. Very nice!

I am too old school for modeling guitars and amps.
my computer is on my desk top. my guitars are analog.
I have gone through so many pedals that I finally got sick of the modeled sounds.
way too generic sounding after a while. I have a pedal or two that have both been modded to my specs.
I am set. it is my ability now that gets the work out niot my fingers pushing buttons or twiddling dials.

like I said I am old school.
I think computers inside instruments is the new deal and beconming more popular.
I hope that individuality can survive.

Thanks for the input folks. Gasbag, you're evil :)

Hmm, that Variax is neat, though not quite what I'm looking for.

I can certainly see where you're coming from dogbite, nothing wrong with old school! ;)

Yeah, I saw those before. I like the looks and concept. I'd like to play and hear one before buying, though. I'll definitely check em out when they hit the streets.

It is a small world for metal fanatics. I welcome you fellow musicians, especially the metalheads!
