Good evening all,

I don't know if any of our UK members have (or are going to go) to the Music Live Exhibition at the NEC this year? I went there today with the intention of enjoying the event and generally having a good look around, buying a few essentials (capo, cables etc.). However, with so many guitars being dangled like the proverbial carrot in front of my nose the inevitable of course occured.

I found myself looking at acoustic guitars left right and centre! I went from place to place but after much deliberation I came to the conclusion of my favourite and bought the thing . . . it is a Takamine EG340SC. :D

At the show, because of all the background babble, I couldn't actually hear the guitar itself . . but I could play it and it was the one that felt right. As such I bought it on that strength for £199 (reduced from £299). That's approximately $390 I believe reduced from about $580! :D

The fun really began this evening when I finally got home and got the guitar out. Wow! What a sound! Talk about "moving up a level" from the Westfield I had before . . I've moved up a level, then several more on top of that I think! It produces beautiful mellow chords which ring with such a lovely degree of clarity and depth, and it's a joy to actually play too! The 12's (which I found too heavy on my Westfield) feel light and the fretboard is a pleasure to work on! I am truly blown away . . . of course I've not been continuously playing the thing for the last 3 hours have I now . . .

I am one extremely happy bunny now!

Congrats! In hindsight though, would be awfully tough to walk out of a show without a new guitar. Lesson learned, eh?

I crawled out of bed this morning and was playing the thing within 10 mins of waking up.

It is an electro-acoustic, with a pretty decent preamp. Has a built in tuner too which is a bonus!

Congrats, Rob, on your new acquisition! :D She's really very pretty, and I'll bet the sound is terrific. I'm happy, too, that you got a great price. Enjoy!!!

It's right you know, having a nice guitar does make you want to play it more! I've put more hours into my guitar playing in the last 24 hours than I have in any other 24 hour period of my guitar playing!

Learnt 3 Coldplay songs now . . the sound of the guitar seems to really suit them. :)
