Its Father's Day next month and so my other half said I could get an electric guitar from the kids. We don't have a great deal of money so looked in the used gear store. There were a few electrics hanging up but they were pretty much all no-name copies. Then I saw a black Squier Strat, very good condition and selling for &60. I said thats the one! So in less than a month Ill have it here and will put up pics! Never had an electric before and man is it heavy!!

Excited!

That is the mini. My kids have one of those. The bullet's did have a hard tail for awhile, they also have a regular start circuit if I remember correct, notice the one in the photo has only one tone pot. They (the bullets) have the same dimensions as a regular strat aside from the depth of the body. But the older ones like the one I think you are referring to are pretty nice for an entry level guitar. I think squire was very wise to not put a trem on these guitars, it sorts out a lot of potential issues and makes for a more solid base.
There are too, the original made n japan "bullets" from the early 80's, they were strat-ish and are becoming pretty collectable. I sold my bullet bass in the early nineties to buy an Integra, too bad because it was a great player. If by any chance you are referring to one of those for 60p. Good on you! Either way Strat through a fender amp sounds like a fun night.

Excellent present, Sir! I got my red Washburn X series for a Mother's Day gift from my husband -- one of the best presents ever as I keep on enjoying it each time I play and it's hard to stick it in a draw or something. I know what you mean about the electric guitars being heavy, I was quite surprised when I picked it up in the store. Soon got used to it though. Now I just need to keep encouraging my husband to keep trying to practice as well so we can learn/play together. As it stands he sold the guitar he bought (didn't like the shape when he tried to play) and is now on the lookout for one more the shape of mine. Are those Fender Squire ones decent guitars? I keep browsing ebay in the hopes of getting a bargain (either for him of for my 'project' guitar). Maybe he can have his for Father's Day :D

From what I can make out after trawling the net, they aint bad guitars. At least theyre made by Fender unlike many of the cheaper, more common copies like Encore.

So much information out there and sometimes it's still hard to get to the truth of something - hurray for forums and things. My own guitar's a Washburn and I'm happy with it; got it from a local music shop (Take2Music in Long Eaton if anyone's around here and wants to support them) :)

Congrats! That is actually a lighter guitar in my stable. I tend to favor Les Pauls but Strats are exellent guitars.
