Guitar mute recommendations please- whether a generic product or a DIY solution.
On my electric guitar I never use open strings, so is there something that can clean up my playing by stopping stray harmonics and open strings from ringing, preferably something that enables me to finger at fret one, or at least fret two.
Thanks,
Tristan.

I have used a piece of soft foam before, pressed up against the nut under the strings.
I could still play at the first fret.
I did an web seach for "string dampers" and there are quite a few options from hair ties wrapped around the neck to mechanical dampers screwed to the truss rod cover on LP style guitars. I like the looks of some of the wraps like Buznuts and Fretwrap. They might be worth a try.
