What's the best guitar tone/set up to get the sound where you play the top 3 strings downward in a quick strike? Examples would be on the Eagles One of these Nights or Please Come Home for Christmas. Thanks!

If you look at the live performances of One Of These nights on you tube you'll see that the band use a mix of Les Paul (humbuckers) and Telecasters (single-coils), so it's time to sit down with your gear and experiment for ten minutes. Generally, though, select the bridge pickup and set the tone high. Then hit it fairly hard

Upstroke with a pick, staccato, bright sound.
