According to a BBC News Report, "A strong type of magnet used in many new commercial products can interfere with pacemakers and implanted heart devices with deadly consequences. Close contact - within about 3cm - with a neodymium magnet is enough to destabilise these life-saving heart devices, Heart Rhythm journal reports..."

If it'll do that with a fridge magnet, any guitarists with pacemakers need to be very careful around newer speakers with neodymium magnets, f'rinstance the Vox NeoDogs in the AD120VTX and its cousins!

Rule No. 1 - Do not stand closer than 3cm from this speaker

Rule No. 2 - If in doubt, see rule 1

Could you actually get 3cm from that speaker magnet?

Best,

A :-)

Neodymium magnets are found all over the place, but they have been for years. The warnings should be made when someone is fitted with a pacemaker too, surely, instead of with every magnet?

Of course, this means you shouldn't carry your amp in your left breast pocket!

If you put a magnet over a pacemaker it generally turns it off. Its done all the time in a hospital setting or doctors office to check the underlying heart rhythm. You have to put the magnet right over the pace maker. -ken
