I really shouldn't be looking for guitars - next time somebody ask me to help I'll have to say no.
I've always just assumed that Rickenbackers were out of the question - but then I found this - approx $2000 here in Norway (just about the same price as a American Standard Strat..)

Please tell me I can't afford it!! Please tell me I don't need it! What shall I do - is there a cure?
(I will have to call my bank one of these days to tell them how much I need for the apartement I've just bought - No! don't even think of it! )

I'd like to help, but since I just picked up a GT-8 I have absolutely no need for, I'm just not the one to do it . . .
In all seriousness, though, that's a great looking axe, and a very good price.

Thanks guys - I knew I could count on you - or wait... :-)
I don't even have a wife to answer to anymore ...

darn you Lars. in the back of my mind I have been thinking about Richenbackers. maybe I have been listening to Tom Petty ...now you have fueled the fire. I have GAS.
cool guitar. that black color is classic.
Nice--buy it 8)
Don't buy it, NOT.
You don't need it, NOT.
You have too many guitars already, NOT.
You can only play one at a time...SO?
Sorry, guess I'm not much help, either.

Rick's sound really muddy. If your gonna get one get a 12 string. Don't buy this one.
Congrats Lars! Nice guitar!
Go ahead! 8)

LOL, ROTFL, LMAO etc :-D
TrueG: You serious now? With humbuckers it wont sound like a strat, I know - but I can't be THAT bad? Do you have first hand experience?
And seriously - I kinda have a faint hope that it is true...
Nuno - :-D

lars,
I've been trying to help you all day...by not posting anything.
That is one beautiful, collectible guitar. I've never heard of a Rickenbacker being "muddy" sounding. Maybe someone really is trying to help you! I have a Ric bass that's not even muddy sounding! I've always heard the guitars described as "jangly" (which is also what I hear on record). Hmmm...Well, I'm sure you'll try it before you buy it...right???
Good luck, congrats, or something like that...! :D
Love and Peace or Else,

Thank you musica - appreciated your help
From my bass playing brother I've been told that bass players often have a hate/love thing with Rickenbacker basses. Why is it you like yours?
Try before I buy  why is that? I know I want that guitar
Seriously - it is kinda strange. Last week I bought a new apartment for me and my kids. Something like 300 000$, or between 5-6 of my current yearly salary. I spendt max 5 minutes in the appartement before I made a decision that I wanted to buy it. I can easily spend twice a much time going to a shop to save $2,5 in groceries. Rational? I don't think so
And - of course the RIckenbackers do not have humbuckers - I dunno where that came from
And - TrueG - yes I will actually consider a 12 string
- EDIT: 2-3 years waiting list? Anyone out there going to norway soon?
