2. The action was set way too low for slide (and for most other purposes) when I bought it. This is pretty easily fixed, as the guitar has a floating bridge. When I changed strings, I pushed the bridge as far north as it would go (against the bridge pickup) and raised the strings as high as I could, especially on the high strings (the strings are individually adjustable, and require only a small standard screwdriver.
You play a very different style of slide than I do. That would make it unusable for me. For playing basic bottleneck blues, one must be able to play fretted rhythm patterns such as a blues shuffle, and it's important to be able to throw in fretted chords and melodic patterns. I really don't want the strings raised up to where you can only use the slide, and jamming the floating bridge up against the pickup and raising the strings ruins the intonation. You've effectively made a lap steel out of it. Fine if all you want to do is slide, but that really only works in a band setting.

Nice, i have often wondered how the OE-30's feel compared to the HB's.
the red is nice (mines a wine red color) :P
I just bought a Gretsch G5120 in orange. I love the way these guitars look - reminds me of the gear used by school dance bands during the 60's. Plus, it's easier to play 'Johnny Be Good' on the Gretsch than the Yamaha acoustic :-)
Have a safe and pleasant day.

Mine is a Schecter C1EA and as far as playing it unplugged, I dont do that. I really cannot hear what is being played on that particular guitar without plugging it in. Its nothing like my Ovation Acoustic Electic CS257 which is very playable unplugged.
Still, the semi hollows are fun and sound great. Someone else mentioned the feedback and that is true too. They tend to do that a bit.
Whew - Glad I got both those out of the way so I dont have to GAS this time. I've done very well with that lately.
