Yup so far so good... Only regret is the weight lol My previous LP was a chambered studio...

Between that and the Tele, I'm set... although part of me thinks I'm going to get a Strat and a Gibby 339... lol

As for money, I just came from a much more expensive hobby (Supercharged V8 Muscle car)... At least with a guitar, all you need to do is practice and that's somewhat free (if you don't count the money you'd make working a 2nd job - which I do have). With the car, there's these reoccurring costs like insurance, gas (oh my lord the gas, in Canada it's like 5 bucks a gallon) and the car is NEVER fast enough 250, 300, 400HP it never ends... :P

Cheers...

There are always more amps, pups, effects, etc. But, I agree your costs should be a bit lower than in the car hobby.

I don't mean not eating beans... I sold my older stuff, bought a new Tele and used LesPaul. Now I'm a Gibson fan-boy and want to sell my LP (at a small profit) to buy a LP Traditional... LOL I can afford it, after selling my old gear I have $700 burning a hole in my pocket, I can sell the LP for another 700 easily.. I won't be missing much for my dream guitar.

I wouldn't feel bad if I was good at playing LOL... I thought crack was addictive. :(

I have found the best way to avoid GAS is twofold - i) get a single decent enough guitar that is versatile. (I use a 335 style which allows me to do pretty much anything). ii) improve your technique to the point that you realise your guitar isn't the thing holding you back!

I think when I used to get GAS in the past, it was linked to a feeling that the right guitar would 'solve' a problem. The hard truth is that your technique is really the thing holding you back. Try some intensive exercises for a fixed period, say 4 weeks. I do this with my students and they find that their guitar seems very different afterwards.

Sometimes it is the guitar holding you back. But you have to be realistic about whether it's you or the guitar. If it's the guitar, what is it specifically that isn't working for you? When you get one that's good quality and a good match, you'll know it. I'm finally there with a Fender strat, a Gibson LC-1 and the recently acquired Eastman T184. I'm not planning to buy another guitar ever.

I married a woman who also plays guitar and synthesizer - two of the worst GAS instruments made.

I'm in the process of buying another Parker DF - having it custom built with Duncan P-Rails and Triple Shot pickup rings.

My GAS stopped when I got the Parker DF. I found the guitar that I really bond with and that cured the GAS. I haven't hardly touched my other guitars since then.

So why buy a second one?

I only want to play the Parker DF now, but I feel I need two guitars. So not to duplicate the same sounds as the DF I already own, I'm having it made with the very different pickups.

I plan to sell everything else except the Epiphone Casino because it can be played unplugged that that makes it good for figuring out songs.

If any GAS-head is interested in a 1970 Gibson ES-330 -- let me know.

Every time I buy a new guitar GAS seems to abate temporarily. That's how I get rid of it. I've gotten rid of it about 50 times now.

GAS is always constant and its because musicians ears are always tone hungry to get inspired to create. You have to be happy with your tone in order to really enjoy, so as not to just go thru the motions so to speak. I know giggn is giggn and practice is practice, but dog-gone fun is fun dang-it.. lol It just takes so much time, money, and hearing loss...lol!! Good luck with the cure and let me know what its gonna cost me when its available..lol!!!
