its funny, when people say jimmy page is so sloopy, but when you ask them thier influencrs his name is always in the mix, imagine that

Jimmy Page is sloppy and I'm not a Page or Zepplin fan.

Kidding aside, no guitarist is perfect. Some are more sloppy than others. But you miss a note here and there, no one will know the difference. I've strummed the wrong chord in a couple places before, no one noticed.

OWA..listen to pages studio work 8) :!: Sure most guitarists make mistakes live, but when page is sober and clean he is great live.( and he has been clean and sober for many years now, in fact I don't think drugs and ETOH was ever a really big problem with him

When I was 16 and had my first car, I had my brother's recycled 8 track. My sister belonged to a tape club and gave me a tape they got that was not wanted. Led Zeppelin II. The only tape I owned and I played it constantly. I was learning the guitar and I had those licks burned into my brain. Maybe I'm sloppy too ... so what.

. . . when Page is sober and clean he is great . . .

being great one day every decade isn't bad . . . :)

jimmy was one of the most demanded studio players before zep, he had his drug problems, but so did hendrix, clapton, richards, and before you call someone sloppy, you need to be better than they are

ken, you are a great guitar player with great taste, these youg ones,
what we do with them lol 8)

I'd love to be 1/10th as sloppy as JP....in as many styles and genres as JP....and be looked down on as an example of a sloppy guitarist like JP (well I got that bit....)

I mean, he's such a lousy guitarist, it's a wonder he's allowed anywhere near a studio isn't it...

:D :D :D

Wow, looks like I stepped on someone's sensitive parts. I like LZ and have nothing against JP, just using one of the many possible examples of sloppy players. Besides, it shouldn't have been *that* hard to detect the smell of sarcasm, it's not like I'm declaring 2007 the global JP-bash year...

By the way, I have some sloppy players as example but JP ain't one of 'em.

Thanks TRGuitar and Rocker for the kind words :D one of my favorite Guitar players is Johnny Winters..He did play kinda sloppy back in the early 70's( check out the Edgar winters live album) But I guarantee you no one has ever played with more feeling and emotion 8)In fact it was inspire ring to hear such a great guitar player make a mistake..I thought there was hope for a slug like me  Jimmie Page has mede a few blunders in his time ( but not in his studio albums  ) So OWA and Arjen being of the younger generation DO have the right to point out that JP could be a bit sloppy at times...But it is "only rock and roll

I'm way better than Jimmy Page. Music sounds better to me when it's heavy. And I play way heavier than Jimmy Page does. Plus I'm way better looking.

I'd rather have a supper with amazing tasting food, tossed onto the plate over average tasting food, placed on the plate, carefully.

So yea, in other words I'd take Page over a lot of guys. Sure he was sloppy, a bit...but who really cares, he produced some of the most amazing sounds of the guitar.

But then again a guy like David Gilmour played perfectly and he made amazing sounds so... ;)
