Hi people. I'm starting to like reggae and I was just wondering what effects I should use in order to get that 'clink' sound. I was thinking of getting a dunlop wah. But I'm not sure. Maybe a phaser pedal? Can anyone give a guideline on what eefects I should get? Thanks. Peace. :)

both the wah-wah and the phase shifter are a good idea, i think it would be pretty important to be able to get a good clean sound as well.

good clean sound, upstrokes over down strokes, reverb, a spalsh of chorus. Thats about all you need I dont see how wah wah o phaser will help that...

GN's resident learning sponge, show me a little and I will soak it up.

Twangy pickups, like tele or strats seem to work better than hums.

Who needs a signature?
I mean really...
It's almost always lyrics...
or a cliche...
or garbage about me...
Lets just save YOU from the pain, ok?

reverb, def reverb...and chorus is nice.

i second the clean sound thing. it's the most important thing. listen to some Marley records and hear what he's got on his geetars.

I am a long time reggae player. whereas I dont use chorus I do think it is used. just dont over do it.
a wah is nice, but only attempt to use it if you got the rythm down solid.

up stroke s the norm. and the emphasis is on beat two and four.

I palm mute alot. it keeps it tight; a good chucking or skanking method.

if you enter into DUB then a Delay is needed. I love DUB.

Augustus Pablo "king tubby meets the rockers uptown" is some fine dubbin, i believe everyone should experience that record.

I like the sound of my clean channel on my Fender amp with my single coil Strat and a little reverb. Maybe move the Mid and Treble up on your amp and try the bridge pickup.

The key is to play the bass note on the down stroke and play upstrokes between the beats and immediately mute the strings. You get the nice boom/CHUCK, boom, CHUCK feeling. Once you get the feeling it sounds great.

"Knocking On Heaven's Door", is great reggae style and super easy!!

I would love to jam w/ u Ricochet, that is some fine music. I can't quite get the rythm down tho. It sounds like it would be so easy but alas I am too white  "Tommorrow may not be the same........"

I'm a rhythm-challenged Caucasian, too, but I like the stuff! :D
