In need of help with this great fingerpicking song

Hey everyone.. I'm having some problems with this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEd7RINJwjo (it's from 1973 - the album "odpotovanja" (it's hard to translate.. :wink: ) is considered as one of the hardest to find in Slovenia). I can play the whole song except for the intro which seems strange to me. I play it in the key of G, relative to capo on 4th. The tuning I use is dropped D, which works just fine. As mentioned, it's the intro that's giving me gray hairs :) Anyway, have a listen, and tell me what you think. A diferent tuning perhaps or some other solution to the intro. I'd realy appreciate your help, thanks,
