I only saw her that one time on TV............. if her live shows are ANYTHING like what she did on TV.... be prepared to have your jaw hit the floor! I went out and bought her CD "Legs to Make Us Longer" and looked and looked for a DVD or a Video tape of her but couldn't find one.......... she's AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After simply lsitening to some clips on her website, meaning you might take me for an asshole, I only like Magazine, which is a really cool song in my opinion.

She dosen't actually play that way all teh time...i seem to remeber....I belive Preston Reed was his name...but he did the same thing, played an adamas and played with his hands like that. She even says it on her site that shes just ripping him off on those songs.

Its either shes really short, or Conan O' Brian is really tall. She made it sound like it as computer generated or something.

Well, thanks, E. Sherman! I do believe that I'm going to be checking out Preston Reed!

You might want to also check out Michael Hedges...same style of playing.

I'm also a big fan of Leo Kottke. Straightforward acoustic fingerpicking rather than crazy tapping and such, but still fantastic. 6 and 12 String Guitar is one of my all time favorite albums.

Thanks! I WILL check out Michael Hedges, too. And I totally agree with you about Leo Kottke! My favorite CD of his (that I personally own) is called "One Guitar, No Vocals"............ amazing!

When I was at university, I saw a Leo Kottke concert in a medium-sized multipurpose/conference room at the student center. We sat on the floor about ten feet from the stool upon which a somewhat "mind altered" Leo played. It was a good show, and the first of a couple very memorable dates ...

IIRC, at the very same time dhodge and his date were elsewhere on campus watching Julian Bream perform on guitar and lute.

I saw Hedges on TV many years ago. On PBS or something. He was introduced as "The Guitarist From Another Planet". And he was.

He played this thing that was sort of like an acoustic double-neck guitar, but the top was like a bass. He was all over that thing, caressing and slapping, knocking, hammering and plucking.

It was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen.

i hope this doesnt sound too harsh... but i am more impressed by the sound that is produced by the instrument... or, i am less impressed with the 'how' than with the 'what'

i have heard some of Leo Kottke's stuff and yes, i like it... it is impressive, and i say that without ever having seen him play

He is, he's about 6'4". That's why his set and desk look so small.
