Hey, I'm going to get the epiphone 335 dot real soon, and I want to change the knobs on the guitar. It comes with these ugly gold knobs, and I would like to replace it with black knobs.

I tried getting some detailed pics of the guitar, but I can't determine if the knobs on normal 335s have normally been black speed knobs or black bell knobs. Does anyone know about this?

The knobs are narrowd down between these 2 models:

Bell Knobs
http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Knobs/Bell_knobs/Bell_Knobs.html

Speed Knobs
http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Knobs/Speed_knobs.html

Second, one the bottom of both descriptions, they say something about the knobs fitting on certain types of guitars. Does anyone know if both of these will fit on an epi 335 dot?

I really need some help on this, and thanks to all who answer

Go to musiciansfriend.com they have zoomable pics of most guitars. The ones on the Gibson 335, if that is what you are calling Normal look to be the bell shaped knobs. I have no Idea whether they fit the knurling on the Epi pot shafts or not but the supplier should be able to advise.
Robbie.
BTW that looks like a sweet axe!

Thanks robbie, I know that guitar jsut rocks!

Ive looked at some pcitures and I found that bell knobs are used on the 335s. Now the quesiton is, does anyone know if those knobs from stew-mac could fit on an epiphone 335 dot? They don't lsit certain specifications on their website, and I don't understand what they mean with the shafts and 24pin etc.

There are two types of shaft - solid and bifurcated. For a solod shaft, you'll need a knob with a set screw, to hold it firm. With a bifurcated knob (fancy word for split), you'll need push-fit knobs. You also have more than on diameter of shaft, to make matters worse.
You can go to the EPi forum, the EPi support or Stewmac/Warmoth/etc. and ask which type of knob you need for an Epi Dot.
I think that the Epi Dot has an imperial biifurcated knob.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

Sorry that link is wrong just go to the forums you will see a thread on knobs on the first page of the electric forum. For some reason I keep getting the last digit of the link knocked off. The last series of six numbers should end with a 3. Maybe the link is too long because when I manually change it ,word wrap puts it on two lines.

Now I've heard it all! Guess it's better than not liking the paintjob!

It makes more sense to not be too thrilled about knobs becuase you could always pick a guitar with a different paintjob
