Congrats, I think you got a great deal there.
So where is that stripped screw? Is it part of the pickup mounted on the pickguard? If so, you should be able to remove the pickguard and back the screw out from underneath.
If it holds the black box on, you could take a drill and drill off the screw head, remove the box, and then back out the screw shaft with pliers or channel locks.

i got the screw out.
there's a clip of it on my soundclick site "delay pedal". it's me messing around with a delay pedal. the file got kind of scratchy when i converted it to mp3, but it's still pretty cool to listen to with headphones on.
