hey, i just need some opinions on my pickups. i want a nice strong sound, but something the matches my guitar. i have a wine red Aria PE Specail aniversary les paul copy( only 300 made) and pretty much everythings gold plated on it ( machine heads, nuts, pick up selctor, bridge, amp jack) i was wondering if gold plated pick ups would do? my local gitar store said they would give horrible sound and the gold would wear off eventually. he said solid black screamin demons would do or even zack wyldes. i just want an opinion on this before i make the desicion.a lil over 2oo bucks at stake, i dont want to screw up.

thanks,
-pete

PS- to help make this desicion i could post a couple pictures if you all would like.

What type of music? The most important parts of the pickup are material and windings, not the cosmetics. 'Gold' doesn't really describe what type of pickup the salesman steered you away from. You can have a look at:
http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/humbuckersdescr.shtml#JB153Model
there's a screaming deamon listed on that page as well, read through the descriptions. There should be something gold and suits your music.

I just put the seymours up as an example and because they have food easy to read descriptions, lets see dimarzio, rio grande, lindy fralin. I'm missing a few. This is dangerous territory! :D

Why not try some Gibson pickups?

Gibson 57
Classic Plus

These pickups have a impressive review rating.

I agree with Wes...

Gold Gibson pups would make that LP scream. I would suggest...

Classic Les Paul setup is 498T/490R

Agressive high-output is 500T/496R (although I don't know if they come in gold)

Otherwise I would also suggest Duncan Seth Lovers.
