My school band is playing Nautical Disaster by the Tragically Hip for a show in about a month and we are trying to jazz up the song a bit. What I need is a classic rock style guitar solo for the end of the song. Nothing extremely complicated, but something that will wow a crowd. The chord progression is Em-G-C-D, any tabs or suggestions would help.

thanks

Hi Claptonfreak and welcome to GuitarNoise. :D

Asking us to write a solo out for you is not the way it's done, that is something you need to do for yourself.

Now, you could just copy the solo off the recording, you have a month, you should be able to get it down. I just listened to the song and it is pretty simple.

You could try and copy the vocal melody. This is always a good technique for coming up with a good solo. It is not as easy as it sounds, but if you can do it you will be guaranteed a good solo.

But this is something nobody can (or should) do for you.

If you know something better than Rock and Roll, I'd like to hear it - Jerry Lee Lewis
