Hi!
I just picked up my first electric today. A Yamaha EG 112 starter kit with a GA-10 amp. My only experience with guitars is strumming away at a beat up noname accoustic that I won a few years ago (and never learned anything on, lol). Anyway, the EG plays like a dream. The amp doesn't seem to be anything to write home about but it'll play soft enough (even on the drive channel) that I don't annoy my neighbors, so that's plenty good for me. But the guitar, for someone that doesn't know any better than I do, it's the most awesome thing ever!
There's no real point to this post, sorry, just thought I'd introduce myself and share my joy with you guys.

Welcome to GN, enjoy the ride :D
The only thing that keeps me from realising my full potential is the depressing awareness that it wouldn't take much time or effort...

HI :D
Nice axe :D you came to the right place--the dog
Thanks, everyone! I'm been browsing the GN pages and stumbled on an Amazing Grace article/guide, so now I've been playing the melody line of that for that last several hours. I'm sure it's inanely simple to anyone with just a little skill, but I love the way it sounds with full distortion. I'm really just messing around at the moment, playing with the tone and seeing what sounds I can get out of this thing.
Thanks again for the warm welcome and encouragement...this must be where all the nice people on the internet hang out. :P

Welcome! I am not familiar with your axe, but if you dig it, play it 'til your fingers bleed!
Any wagers on how long before he gets his first case of GAS? I've got ten bucks on a month--especially if he visits the forums regularly!
