Yesterday, we (pops and I) went to GC to pick up a pack of strings, and a pack of picks, when we decided to check out the ladies on the walls. when we came across a Lucille for 500 USD. We went home, and told mum of our trip (I got 3 packs of strings and 2 packs of picks for $15), and pops brought up the hollowbody (bringing up that we've never seen one in person, and that new the guitar was $800). Well, mum said, why didnt you lay it away? we speculated, and decided to lay it away today. Needless to say its not a complete ride, I still have to pay about 3/4s of the money, and work my bum off, and keep my grades high, and get nothing else... but thats gonna be my christmas 'gift' that I work myself to death for. By the way, this is my first hollowbody, and I played it at the GC, and ohhh my goodness... it compares to the Gretsch's, and Gibson hollowbodies.

I play the guitar, I taught myself how to play the guitar, which was a bad decision... because I didn't know how to play it, so I was a sh***y teacher. I would never have went to me. -Mitch Hedberg

Sounds very nice.

And if you have to work for it, it'll be all that much sweeter when you have it in your hands.

Congratulations!

Only a few months to go! That's a nice guitar. I know it's gotta be teating you apart waiting for it. I've got one hollow-body in the heard. Lucille was in the running for me too, but she looked just way too much like my black & gold Epi LP that I couldn't do it. Ended up with a very sweet deal on a Gretsch. Regardless, that's a very fine guitar and I know you'll enjoy it. You'll have to post some pics around Christmas time. :D

Only thing I got close is my Oscar Schmidt OE30 Delta King. It has a semi hollow body. Cheap as they come but I am kind of fond of it. I bet that Lucille is some guitar. 8)

Lucille is a semihollowbody, too. (An ES-355.) Having a solid block in the middle that holds the pickups, they're more like a solid body than a true hollow body, but the hollow "wings" do give a bit more resonance. The block makes them resistant to feedback, which is their big advantage over hollow bodies. I love my Agile AS-820 semihollow with P-90s, it's my favorite electric guitar.

I looked at a Lucille too, but I couldn't find one to play. Ended up with my Casino that I love. Semihollows are sweet, you'll love it!
