Well, I don't know if there already is a topic about picks of a kind but did you know that you can make quite decent picks from expired credit cards? Of course you could use some which are not expired but I would not recommend that. ;-) I have played with one made from an old Visa card and like it quite a bit.

Priceless!

Sorry, couldn't resist that. :D

I have made picks from all sorts of things, but never a credit card. I have tried coins, washers (the hole in the center works great), even matchbook covers.

I will also buy the large triangular picks from Fender and cut them into three smaller picks. I like the pointed tip, excellent for picking fast. So, you get three picks for the price of one. :D

Why does it have to be empty?

The act of emptying it makes your playing sound better to yourself

I once made a plec from a broken beer glass - one piece looked just the right size for a plec. So I sanded down the sides, spent ages working on it, got a nice smooth tone when it was finished - then of course, I lost it. I may try it again one day - but then again, I hope never again to drop a glass full of beer....

:D :D :D

I could see how a credit card could work as a pick. once, I let a player use my guitar at a jam. when he pulled out his car keys to play it I leapt across the room and nearly floored him with my right. I gave him a pick. I always have some handy, as I keep a few in that little pocket within a pocket of my jeans. they never fall out, even during a wash cycle. my credit card is not that handy. sadly, it is worn out and overused.

I've seen one of these used as an emergency pick.

They are a fairly soft plastic, so they don't last long, but works in a pinch.

They can also be used as a low-budget strap lock.
