I rather like the open chords solution that folks have offered up. I still say that this song doesnt need that chord in it. By the time I sing the part previous to that chord, I am ready for the one after the E/G#. Cant remember the progression at the moment. But anyway, it doesnt seem like there is any time to play that chord.

But I am sure I will need the E/G# in some other song so I really appreciate all the suggestions.
