I don't know who buys these guitars.I think i will get one when i am knockin' on heaven's door
the first one that caught my eye was the 7 string McGuinn guitar...then I scrolled down a ways and saw the D-100....$100,000 if my eyes are still working right.
"Say honey...do we really need to use this 100k on a house...There is a lovely Martin I saw...."

Well, after looking at ads for $4500 amp power cords and $480 wooden control knobs on hi-fi sites, I'd say those guitars are all real bargains!

I think that Martin's are kind of like the acoustic version of Gibson (in terms of price, in my opinion). Do they REALLY have to charge that much?!? I really, really, really, really doubt it... you're really just paying for the Gibson, or in this case Martin, name. That being said, if I had the money I'd definitely pick up a Gibson and a Martin because I know it's not going to be garbage... I'd probably pick up a Strat too, and a Vintage Marshall amp, and maybe a Mesa/Boogie too... but that's another story all together.

Checked the list prices on acoustic Gibsons lately?

If it's a hand crafted Martin, they do have to charge that much. Otherwise your paying a master craftsman peanuts to perfect the angle on the guitar neck. It takes months to handcraft a guitar. You can find other guitars of near quality(larivee among others) but these use cnc machines to do much of the work. When it comes to an a/b comparison, Martin will likely still win hands down.
For my money, I would have rathered shelled out $25,000 for a Martin Jimmie Rodgers limited ed.

If it's a hand crafted Martin,

You won't pay thousands of dollars for a cnc carved Martin. It might be a nice guitar. I won't deny that, but I don't think it would equal a handbuilt D-10. I think you'd have to A/B them to truly find out though.
100k, thats incredible. I'd pay it if I had it though ;)
I could never understand Martin pricing.
How on earth can they justify a 5.5k price-tag for a laminated top guitar?
Mind-boggling.

How on earth can they justify a 5.5k price-tag for a laminated top guitar?Because there are people willing to pay it.
