So I've been GASSING....MAJOR for the past few months for an EPI Master Built Accoustic, since I can't afford a Gibson. Why a Gibson Acoustic? Well because I want one :) Anyway.....
Long story short. This summer, during a lunch break I went over to the local GC that was close to the office and the kid working that day had something to show me, when he escorted me back to the acoustic room he presented me with a beautifully made Master-Built. It was awesome and I fell in love, but I couldn't get it just then. Needless to say they sold out and have been sold out for months.
For my work I was required to travel all over the country, (I'm a Corporate Trainer), and I was in a little town on the Mississippi on the Iowa/Illinois border and found music store one evening. Guess what...they had Gibby's and Epi's. I saw this and instantly fell in love. Needless to say I spent both of my evenings in the store, away from home playing my heart out with this thing.
It is an Epiphone Masterbilt AJ500RC
But I couldn't bring it back with me on the airplane (well I didn't want to) as I wasn't going straight home after that leg of my trip... so it would've required me to take it on at least 4 other airplanes before coming home to Portland, OR at the end of that week. Regrettably I had to pass on the purchase.
When I got home I'd tried a few of local stores in my area to no avail.
I looked and scoured over Craigs List for a few weeks again, to no avail.
So I decided to look online and American Musical Supply were the only ones I could find so I placed my order a few weeks after that trip on a Friday when I got home (this was mid October). Everything was confirmed on Monday and the order status was "Being Pulled", then Tuesday morning I awoke to find an email that this 'item was out of stock'. Arrrrggghhh!!!
I wrote Epi and asked when they would be shipping more, since these things seemed like the Wii.. just can't find one....anywhere. I got some blanket response from them and ignored it. I kept looking at AMS and MF and the others and I kept seeing availability date for mid-December, then the day would come and the date got moved to now its Jan 18th or something. Eventually I gave up on ever getting one, at least before Christmas this year, since that what it was going to be, my Christmas present to myself.
Ok here's the end. I just finished dinner, thought I'd check my email and "SNAP!" I got an email from AMS stating that my order has been shipped. So Curiosity got the best of me...wait.. I haven't ordered anything from them since that Epi.... noooooo!!!!! Couldn't be........ Sure enough
I'm gonna have a big wrapper under the tree this year.......hehehehehe I'm so stoked, but I'm waiting till Christmas to open it (my girlfriend is yelling that to me right now...hehehe), that is if it makes it in time.

Hope your new guitar makes it home for Christmas. :D
It kinda reminds me of the Seagull S6, which I like. Post some sound clips after you get it.

I am glad the saga will have a happy ending. I just wonder why you did not buy the guitar when you found in the midwest, rent a car and drive home? now that would have been a nice trip.

Ha! Great story!!!
Think you can wait to open it if it shows early? I mean you DO want to make sure it is NOT damaged, right? You will certainly want to tune it to be sure it is perfect. I dunno, that box under the tree would drive me nuts.
Congrats!!!!

I haven't had a "Christmas" that made me 'Giddy' in a LONG LONG LONG Time... so I think I'm gonna do it this year.
I'll get the box, then hand it over to the girlfriend... <MOPE> I've been tracking it almost every hour for two days now, it's supposed to arrive on Monday...just in time :)
if it is damaged, I'll just do the return thing.. its Coming from NJ..all the way to Oregon so we'll see

hahaahaha,
That's too funny.
I can sense your emotional state and I'm half way between the origin of shipment and its destination. If it went at all by ground it went past my neighborhood.

That's a nice axe. I have a Masterbilt DR 500M that I got a couple years ago that I'll never part with.
That's a sweet looking guitar. Hope, it plays that well too.
Congrats on your new acoustic and merry christmas !
