Beautiful job Chris, you oughta be proud.
I've often thought about doing this, haven't gotten to it yet.

Absolutely amazing! You must have had a tremendous amount of gumption to take on that project! It's truely a remarkable achievement.
(And, you must have a very understanding wife .. she had to live in that shed while you built the house :-))

Oh that house, Oh the view, Oh the sunset, oh the guitars. Don't suppose you'd like to swap for a three bed house in the concrete jungle known as Essex would you?
No i didnt think so :(
The only thing that keeps me from realising my full potential is the depressing awareness that it wouldn't take much time or effort...
You didn't just hang the french door......you made them :D Now thats impressive!!!!!I love the tin roof!! You are a blessed man indeed! What kind of woodworking machine was that :?: --the dog
Hi all,
Just struggled out of bed... blink...
Thanks for all the kind comments - I had no idea that so many people were interested in house building. :D
Smokingdog, the woodworking machine is a Robland (made in Belgium I think). I couldn't have made all the windows and doors without it. It can do all the whizz-bang stuff like moulding shapes (there's a gizmo that fits on top, and a spindle moulder that pops ups). Plus planing, thicknessing, and all the usual stuff.
Vink,
I do have a wonderful wife. Not only did she live in the shed - she worked to pay for it all while I built it. We've been together for 25 years. :D Actually, the shed ended up pretty nice to live in, kind of cosy and casual. We called it the "Cottage". :P
Cnev,
It took about two years of work, but the two years took more like four years to find - if that makes sense. Time off here and there for other work, sick days, lazy attacks etc. Part of the time was really spent learning the necessary crafts, as I'm not a trained builder. Some things like plastering, glazing (210 panes of glass to fit) etc look quick when you see an expert, but are REAL slow for a beginner. But I'm persistent (my word for stubborn...).

That looked like a substantial project in itself..if it's still there, it can be used to store lots of guitars (back to the real reason for the existence of this forum G.A.S and Guitar Envy :-))

Very nice Chris! Truely remarkable job on the project!

Nice pic
I like the one eye peering out from under the cap. :D
Funny how I now take a quick look at the face in that sort of picture and then my eyes go straight to the guitar. What is it? What are his fingers doing? How's he holding it? and so on!
If I ever post a pic of me with a guitar, I must remember to put my fingers in some dazzlingly unusual arrangement, just to get everybody wondering... 8)

We're WAAY ahead of you!!
Actually it's about twelve hours. So when it's yesterday with you, it's often already tomorrow with us.. or something like that! :D
Australia also has several time zones, like the USA, as it's roughly the same size west to east.
Of course we have nowhere near your population. You've got... what.. somewhere up near 300 million now I think. We have around 20 million!
So next time there is an Olympics, or whatever, and we come close to the US medal tally, remember we do it with about a fifteenth of your population!! :D :D :D Geez, we're good....
Can I move to Australia, do they need Nurses? I could be the "dog down under" LOL sounds nice :D
