Oooohhh, ahhh, I'm a crazy boy!!!!

I wouldn't compare my Epi to a classic 60's LP by any stretch...but next to a current Gibson Studio, it's nearly the same axe.

Unless I'm tone-deaf, which I'm pretty sure I'm not.

The big step up the Gibson has is in wood selection and quality, but that's a hard difference to make up with the other parts. The nicer Epi's: the Elitists, are made with better wood and American electronics, I could definitely be convinced that those are equal to some gibsons. I've heard the case made that their neck joint construction is actually superior to Gibson's short tenon contruction.

The issue there of course is that the elitists tend to come up above the price of the lower end Gibsons, and I think it's probably pretty hard to sell an Epi for $1000 right now when you can get Gibson on your headstock for less.

Do something you love and you'll never work a day in your life...

Unless of course you know that you want the Epi over the Gibson because it plays better. Belive me, I hate all the regular Epi'd I've tried, but I tried an Elitist Casino and SG, and they rocked more than the lower end Gibbo's. :) But I agree with you, most people are gonna go for the Gibbo instead of the Epi because of the name on the headstock.

You know a mate of mine told me he went to this show where he saw a buddy of his playing this crappy drumkit (he had to sell his cause of money ext) but he is a really good drummer and even though he's playing on some 2nd hand piece of junk he was really awesome. Anyway the point is you could have a friggin gibson LP Supreme you're still gonna sound crap if you can't play.

Live of the stage you're not gonna be able to tell the diff between a Gibson LP or Epi LP, but in the studio you will.

Yeah, I did mean £30. I dont think you can go wrong with that sort of price. It's not that broken either, just sometimes, like 1/5 times you play it, no sound comes out the amp, so im just guessing theres something inside thats not making a connection.

He's selling it so cheap because A, i'm a friend, and B, its just in the way, and taking up room in his house.

For £30, it could be quite fun to just try and fix it, and maybe tinker around. I'm really tempted to go for it. I dont think it was the amp that made the difference anyway. He's letting me borrow it for a while so I can play it on my amp, and just mess around with it for a few days. I'll let you guys know when I have it.

Thanks
