I am a beginner guitarist and use LTD EC50 and line 16, 30 W amp. When I play with distortion ie in the "insane" channel, I get a scratching sound when I change chords or when I slide. It is not smooth. Is this because of my technique? Or amp or is there some setting on my amp that I need to change to minimize the scratching sound. Also, I can also hear my pick strokes through the amp. Is it because of the same reason? Thanks for your help.

higher distortion picks up all those little scratches and squeaks you make with both hands.
