Do you know these phases, where you completely forget about space and time and just play and play like mad, even if it's just the same riff over and over again?

I was totally obsessed the last 2 hours. I didn't even realize time went by so fast. However now my wrist hurts...

I guess that it's not how it's supposed to be?

has anybody else these obsessions?

Yeah, the wrist can hurt from time to time, thats ok...

Just stop, taking a few hours (or a few minutes) and do something else. Lets your wrist relax, and everything cool off.

It's only not ok, when it doesn't go away!

Aren't you the one that said cracking your knuckles was good.

It's important to distinguish between soreness and pain.

After you build up enough callouses to stop the pain in the fingertips, there really should be no pain. Soreness will happen especially how you describe it. But if its pain, it needs to be addressed.

thanks for your suggestions.

it's just the wrist that hurts.
could be because I'm lefthanded and work about 8-10 hours a day with a mouse (standard mouse, NOT lift handed), and afterwards I go on and play a left handed guitar. So my wrist is used almost more then 50% of 24h.

btw: i too cranck my knuckles a lot, but they dont hurt

This is not ok. If your wrist is hurting, immediately stop playing and only continue when the pain is gone. You have no idea in what kind of medical hellhole you'll end up otherwise. And to be sure, I am not kidding.

special note: if the pain continues for more then two days, consult your doctor. Be carefull with your own body. It's too easy to damage it and too hard to fix it...

I stopped playing and the pain is gone. I think it was better this way because, yes - you never know. How stupid of me that I even had to ask if it was ok...
thanx
