Bora Da,

Need some help finding new songs to play.My band has been asked to play a few private parties over the next few months and I'm looking for some ideas for new songs to add to the set as we seem to have been playing the same songs for the last couple of years. So what I really want to know is what songs make you want to get out of seat and hit the dance floor at a party!

To give you some idea of what we currently play here are some songs from our current set:

fortunate son - CCR
pretty in pink - Physcadelic furs
I will follow - U2
maggie may - rod stewart
shook me all night long -AC/DC
the one i love - REM
no woman no cry - bob marley
Satisfaction - the stones
20th century boy - t-rex
wagon wheel - lou reed
dear prudence - beatles

Any help much appreciated

Bob

Hey - cool set - do you need another guitar player ;)

songs?

two first that enters my mind

get back - beatles
jemima surrender - the band

Edit: rereading your post - I missed the "hit the dance floor" part. I don't know too much about that - dancing to get back? shouldn't be worse than dancing to dear prudence

...only thing I know how to do is to keep on keepin' on...

Have a nice Bassist and a guitarist who can play funk, in your band, to keep the groove going.

Some songs -

1.Daddy Cool - Boney M

2.Rasputin - Boney M

3.Another one bites the dust - Queen

4.Wake me up before you go go - Wham

5.Kung Fu Fighting - Carl Douglas

6.Standing on Shakey Ground - Temptations

And many more.Have fun and tell us about your gigs. 8)

If you're going to be playing on New Year's Eve, you could learn the Stones' "Out of Time" and time it so that it ends just as the countdown begins - bit tricky to pull off, but it'd go down a storm :)

Your fellow countryman James Dean Bradfield did that for Jools Holland's show one year, it was
fantastic... see for yourself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlRRzq12g5I (Their clock stopped, they did time it perfectly :))

How about 'Taking Care of Business'? My old band did that, and it was fun!

something by prince, if your lead singer can sing it. "kiss" comes to mind. "creep" or "the bends" by radiohead. any led zeppelin song.

Well, you gotta have some dance songs.

How 'bout The Locomotion - the Grand Funk Railroad version is super.

Play that Funky Music (white boy)- Wild Cherry- great song

I Got You (I Feel Good)- James Brown- a winner

Mustang Sally- people forever love this song because they can sing along

Sweet Chile O Mine- Guns and Roses- always a crowd pleaser

Surrender- Cheap Trick- everybody loves this one

Play some Disco

Stayin' Alive- The Bee Gees- they will dance

(Do a little dance, make a little love) Get Down Tonight- KC and the Sunshine Band

Think of more later

Oh yeah, War Pigs always makes me want to dance.

He asked for songs that make people hit the dance floor, not mosh pit.
