Blister in the Sun
Personally, I've gotten tired of hearing it, but just about everyone knows the words. I think every cover band I've ever seen has played it at one point or another.

I don't want you to play me a riff that's going to impress Joe Satriani; give me a riff that makes a kid want to go out and buy a guitar and learn to play.
— Ozzy Osbourne
everyone knows that riff, but the song/solo...
how about so many nirvana songs? and so much radiohead, and coldplay..

Yeah:
Intro/Verse: G-G-Cadd9-D
Pre-Chorus: Em-D-C-G
Chorus: Em-G-Em-G-Em-D
Intro (2x)
Verse 1 (2x)
Pre-Chorus
Chorus
Intro (2x)
Verse 2 (2x)
Pre-Chorus
Chorus
Intro (4x)
Pre-Chorus
Chorus
Intro (2x)
Chorus
Intro (2x)
End on G chord
Or something relatively close to that. Strumming pattern is DDUUDU or DDUUD.
Also, the picking part over the Intro/Verse uses the same chords as the verse, and the strings are picked as follows (hold the chord and pluck the string that corresponds to the number):
On the G chord: 6-4-2-3-4-3
C chord: 5-4-2-3-4-3
D chord: 4-3-2-3-4-3
Oh, BTW, if you cannot do the picking part, or just don't want to, just strum the entire song. It's pretty easy.
