So I'm trying to compile a list of songs to play around the fire with my friends. Ussually there is more than one guitar and a couple people sing along if they know the song. If you've got some songs that are easy to play and well known leave a list!
My favourites are
The freshmen - Verve pipe
He - Jars of Clay
Good Riddance - Green Day
Wonderwall - Oasis
I'd like to hear what other people like!
'You and I in a little toy shop, bought a bag of balloons with the money we got"

I only know a couple so far. Here they are:
Baby B*tch -- Ween
Buenos Tardes Amigo -- Ween
Friendship -- Tenacious D
Wish You Were Here -- Pink Floyd*
*I know this one thanks to this site! It's a fave, too. Believe it or not, my current girlfriend has become way "nicer" to me since I learned it. It's her fave from Floyd, and I honestly had no idea when I learned it!
Life is good...
well from the Easy Song Database there is:
Wanted Dead Or Alive- Bon Jovi
Eight Days A Week- The Beatles
Hotel California- Eagles
Road Trippin' - Red Hot Chili Peppers
I was going to actually play that at my old school with a friend of mine during one of the talent shows but he decided not to do it because I guess he felt he didn't know it well enough (I played guitar and sang the harmony parts)...
Steve-0
knockin on heavens door - Bob Dylan,
Parklife (arranged for acoustic, obv) - blur
some other stuff.

I know Mikespe posted it but the acoustic version of "Hotel California" is really nice around the fire.
And one of my favorite part songs is "Special Fred" sometimes called "special Ed". I posted this in the Easy Songs forum awhile ago.
I checked out almost every one of these songs (itunes doesn't carry a few) and I'm kind of confused. I recognized only a third and these are supposed to be well-known? Anyway, since I seem to be on a different page (maybe too much California sun and one too many bonfires), my suggestion for the fireside is the art of lyrical improvisation. One of my friends brought his guitar to a bonfire and didn't play a single recorded song. He just got a hold of some generic alternative tunes and would make up the stupidest lyrics, but it was hilarious (he would just take phrases the rest of us said during our conversations and turn them into pop songs, corny high notes and all). It changed the way I've look at fireside guitar-playing ever since. All you need are maybe two different sounding alternative guitar songs and you're set. People join in after a while with the background singing. Actually, you could probably make the song yourself, granted all you need is decent chord progression and strumming. I'm pretty sure it takes practice, though. I'll be working on it when I get a little more experience under my belt.
