I'm using a chicken foot knob for the pickup selector right now, and have the itch to do some headstock work. I'm nearly finished fixing up my strat, so hopefully I'll be able to get to it pretty soon.

Our songs also have the standard pop format: Verse, chorus, verse, chorus, solo, bad solo. All in all, I think we sound like The Knack and the Bay City Rollers being molested by Black Flag and Black Sabbath.

Well, today I put some EB power slinkys on (.11's), adjusted the action( might still go lower in a few days but I'll give it a day or two and see how I like it then. The intonation was not that far off, but I'll take it to Paul's next week and put it on the strobe tuner.

I took the guard off ( a hideous thing that is  ) The problem is that it leaves some pretty good size holes :( I put the screws back in but that looks kinda stupid :P I might paint the guard black( I think they have a spray paint for plastic)

I'm going to order some decal blanks and make some kind of "Smokindog" logo

Later I think I will replace the neck pickup . I just don't get thick single coil Strat sound I need from it

The only other thing would be the bridge, but this one is OK and I don't see putting that much money into it

EDIT: I just lowered the action more...Plays really nice. In fact I did the same on the EPI 335 with good results also :D Since I do have some nerve damage in my left hand, this helps a lot :D

The neck pickup is affixed to the body and has no adjustments. However, you could probably put some sort of spacer below it to raise it up. I thought of doing this once because I noticed a big volume difference between the bridge humbucker and neck single coil. But in single coil mode the bridge is matched up with the neck pickup very close. So I left it alone. Shouldn't be hard to do though.

In addition to my other mods, I'll probably put pickup height screws in the pickguard. It'll make it easier to adjust the neck pickup.

Just got mine from Musician's Friend today. I was able to open it and noodle around after work (I'm a night worker, so it's actually friday morning to most folks here, but it's thursday night for me). It's great. Totally great. It does have the standard issues, rough frets, screws buziing, cheap strings, etc. But for $100 it's awesome.

I like the feel of the neck, and the action is nice and low, no real fret buzzing. I like the tones I get from it, very different from the Les Paul I have. Could someone give me a quick explaination of the coil tap and what it is/does? Little vague on that.

The finish is perfect, and pretty to boot. Visually there's no real flaws on mine. There's just a tiny bit of extra clue on the bridge side of the last (highest) fret, but you can't see it from a distance and I think I can get it to come off with some light cleaning.

I bet you guys think it's made of wood, but it's not!

It's made of pure condenced (not from concentrate) awesomeness, with a topcoat of 'shweet!' to keep the awesomeness from dissipating.

I'm thinking of buying another one in black, but I think I'll sleep on that and see how I feel when I get home from work next.

Can I get an update to the roll call please?

Anyway, I'm rambling so I'll stop typing now.

SHWEET!

Converts the humbucker to be a single coil. So, if you pull up the selector, now you can get two additional tones -- bridge pickup as single coil, or bridge and neck together as single coils.

Yeah...was wondering about that. One is obviously volume then the other knob seems to have 3 positions; where do we get the other 2 from? Forgive my ignorance, there's no pamphlet with the guitar lol!

Pull up on the volume control (not the selector) to switch the 'bucker to single-coil mode.

See post directly above. The volume control is also a push-pull switch to enable one more sound from the the bridge pup. That changes the bridge + neck and the bridge alone tones for two additionals.

If these things came in lefty I'd probably already have one. I wonder what it would cost to buy a cheap lefty tele and make it fat. Maybe even add one of those pull knobs? hmmmmmm :?
