Is there any place to still get these online, I'd hate to think I missed out.

Last I checked they've totally disappeared from the Musician's Friend, Guitar Center, and Squier websites. Here's a few I found on eBay at decent prices: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&satitle=squier+51&category0=

ksac2 - how was your experience with Sam Ash? I considered ordering from them but I have seen a lot of negative feedback about them on the web...

Also - how does the Squier 51 compare to a Squier Standard Strat for $100 more?

I went to the Sam Ash store in New Haven,ct-there was a stack of these guitars there in black and sunburst-i bought a black one-out of the box it is a little better than what you would expect from a guitar that cost 99$-but i changed the pickups and put in a seymour duncan 59 humbucker and a seymour duncan jb jr and now it sounds great!I also had a pro setup done .
i Am really happy with this guitar.
you can see it at my you tube site if i ever figure out how to post videos the right way

I have a 51 that is very nice as long as you can get it set up correctly(or do it your bad self) I also have a Squire Standard black and chrome that was set up by a very good tech at the shop, Its probably better than the 51 but I have to say that the 51 is played a lot more than the standard  It just is damn BAD :P If your a more advanced player you might just like the 51 better...itys just FREAKIN BAD    (and that GOOD 8) )

I got a burst about 3 months ago, The bridge could have been set about 1/4 lower but for under $100 shipping, tax and all, It's a keeper. I've had fun with it so far.

I was just in my local GC here in Beaverton Oregon. They have a total of seven. Five of them are still in the boxes. So they're out there.

I almost walked home with another one yesterday...LOL

Just bought a new Squire 51 at my local Larchmont, NY Guitar Center at their Memorial Day Sale. They had one left (in box) at closing on Monday, May 28. I'm very happy with it. My son and I got together this weekend and played through his 2002 Princeton Amp and he played his Mex Strat (S,S,H) I bought him. The last electric guitar I had was a 1978 Fender Strat (American Made) that I bought new and had for a few years. I like this guitar as well as, or better than either of these two more expensive guitars. So glad I bought it. $99 dollars and they through in a cable. Now I'm looking at amps and considering the budget bargain tube amp getting good reviews, the Epihone Vavle Jr. Head and new matching cabinet.

Joined the club - bought ColoradoFenderBender's Blonde '51 from him, and it's a beauty. Sounds great, easy to play and good looking as well. An amazing instrument considering what they go for.

Thanks again CFB.

Pix soon -- I should have my first completely finished in a couple weeks ... lacquer hardening and all that.

I just started on a second today. It'll be simpler than the first -- just headstock lacquer, pickguard change, new nut and string-thru-body bridge conversion.

The third ... well I'm thinking Filtertron pups, Bigsby trem, tortoiseshell pickguard ... and orange paint. Think Gretch!

I'm about 50/50 on mine... it sounds alright and looks decent, but I HATE the control plate and the overall vibe is just "ok" for me. I'm not a huge "vintage" guy, so the old-tyme P-bass look is a little off-putting for me... I dunno. Could go on the block soon to finance an American Strat...

I do like the guitar, but the honeymoon might be over...

Just bought a Sunburst from my local Sam Ash. Only had it a week and I've already changed the pickguard.
