A friend and I are both recent college grads with degrees in computer engineering. We have been spending a lot of time learning about both analog and digital recording technologies, as well as aquiring our own equipment. We have also spent a decent amount of time perfecting our own recordings.

Recently, we have been discussing the possibility of starting our own recording studio for small productions and demos. We are both extremely passionate about music and want to pursue careers in it. I not only enjoy working on my own recordings, but I think it would be a lot of fun to help other people pursue their musical goals. So in that vein...

Is there a demand for this kind of service?

Are the returns going to be great enough to make this a full time job (after months of part-time prep work)?

What other factors should we be thinking about?

Lastly, what is the first good move?
