i have a washburn d10sce acoustic/electric guitar. i've been playing it for about one year. i recently changed the strings and noticed that they (the strings) have been cutting into the saddle. not much, but enough to notice.
is this normal?
when should i replace the saddle? and how do i do that?
should i switch to strings that have silk wrapped around the ball end and help protect the saddle? i know martin makes some strings like that.

I think it's fairly normal.

I had a Taylor that did the same thing but just a couple of thousands over a month or two than stopped for some reason.

I would not worry about it unless the tone changes, becomes hard to tune or starts to buzz.
