In the full song, the verse you have tabbed out is not actually strummed. The bass picks up the rhythm, while the guitar does some cool stuff over it.

So if you're going to play this by yourself, I'd suggest just to do what sounds best. I dunno...for the verse, maybe just poiwer chords, or just play the bass line - no treble. For the chorus, go all out, if you want to. Maybe something like, uh...

1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &

D U D U

If that makes any sense.

Edit: Try to hit the strings in succession - the first beat, hit the bottom notes, on the second, hit the middle strings, and on the third, the treble...and that final upstroke will hit the treble with an accent. It sounds nice, and that's the key for getting the feel of the song.

Let me go have a listen

I'm using bar chords starting with Am, to G to F

Am
1 e + a 2 e + a 3 e + a 4
D D M D U D D M

Single upstroke on the G

Repeat pattern on the F

M is a palm mute by the way

It shouldn't be too bad.

I think I figured out a way to incorporate the cello part in. Somebody who has played this regularly probably has a better idea of how to do it.
