Ok, i was in my room playing guitar for a while then i decided to hook up some speakers i forgot about, then after i installed them i picked up my guitar again and the big E was out of tune so i thought i hit it when i put it down. But when i tried to tune it, it gradually went to Bb and all the way down to E again, a whole step down. So i did it slowly after that and it is in tune for now. But after a few mintues playing or not, the tuning keeps going down and down only on the string.
About a week ago i put ebony bride pins on and elixir poly lights, if that helps. My thoughts are that it must be the tuning machine, but i'd like some input, and if it is the tuning machine, how much does a set of grovers cost canadian?

Thanx

Mikey

i'm not sure how much i can help, but i'll try. i have a washburn d10sce. it rarely goes out of tune unless the strings have been played a lot. i keep it in its case when i'm not playing it with a hygrometer to keep a check on the humidity. when i notice it not holding a string in tune, i change the strings first. that usually takes care of the problem until i play it a lot.

i'm not sure if the new bridge pins or elixirs have anything to do with it. i know elixirs are slippery so i would make sure the string is fastened tightly on the tuner. i use cheap martin strings i buy here - http://www.stringthis.com/maacgust.html .

you can check here for grover tuners - http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/Guitar,_solid_peghead/Grover_Tuners.ssc . you can select canadian currency on the site.
