I have this old squier acoustic guitar that has mile high action (no, seriosly) so im gonna turn it into a slide guitar, is it true that all i need is a slide and high action? also it doesnt have any string on it so i neeed to replace them. I want to stay at least under $7 for the strings, and what reccommendations do yall have for a slide?

You could use a set of regular guitar strings. Something like:

For a slide you could get a Dunlop:

Heavier strings make sliding easier, because the first string (the main one of importance) is tighter when tuned up and it's easier to slide on it without knocking into the fretboard. It's not crucial to have very heavy strings or high action, though, and you definitely want to be still able to fret to play bottleneck guitar.

As for slides, there are zillions of kinds: Wine bottle necks, Pyrex tubes and brass tubes like Dunlop sells, bronze bushings from Tractor Supply, Craftsman socket wrenches, ceramics, various specialty slides, etc. I've got lots of different ones and rotate around among them. They've all got their own qualities. Just like guitars!
