paganinis 5th caprice- using the guitar world lesson with my own variations
bat country- avenged sevenfold, got it, but working on the solos
recognize- flaw, pretty cool, figured it out on piano, one with synths modeling on it and stuff, :)

those are the only 2 that im really "working" on, i do play alot of songs, and work on my own compositions also

RIP Dimebag

At this particular time I'm working on:

"Ain't No Sunshine" - Eva Cassidy's fingerpicking version (it's way cool!)
"Girls With Guitars" - Written by Mary Chapin Carpenter, performed by Wynonna (electric)
"Back On The Chain Gang" - Pretenders

Hey Elektra, where'd you find that Eva Cassidy version of "Ain't No Sunshine"? I'd love to add it to my learning list.

Which, by the way is currently:

"Romanza"
"Theme from M*A*S*H" - one of Kirk Lorange's cool lessons
"Louise" - Bonnie Raitt
...and occasionally, when I really want to feel bad about my level of ability...
a section of Bach's Concerto in D for Two Violins

If I didn't define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people's fantasies for me and eaten alive.

Hey redneckrocker, I think a congratulations is in order.

I'm revisiting the 12 bar blues with new chord shapes and improvising over them.

Thanks for the congras Sid, my soloing is still extremely slow and is usually just stolen licks from other things with maybe a few extra notes tying them together.

I've been putzing around with some Night Moves and Gilmour solos a little bit over the past month or so. I'm working on 'Shine On, part II right now. Sounds like a wounded Orka.

I've started some ear training work and continuing to soak in as much theory as possible

songs:
Jack Johnson - Banana pancakes (I have all down except for a small part in the last bridge)
Aaron Sprinkle - What sorry could be
Dashboard Confessional - Ender will save us all
The White Stripes - You're pretty good looking
The Verve Pipe - The Freshmen

Don't laugh..........stairway to heaven. Getting the intro sorted, seems to be the hardest bit.

Oh and an easy version of the Chilli's Under the Bridge.

And for fingerpicking practice, Don't Think Twice its allright - Dylan.

all the best

Matt

I'm trying to incorporate dimishied chords into my "normal" thinking of chord progressions.
For songs:
Intro to Sweet Child of Mine
The Ocean

(they both really only work with big distortion. This oughta change!! )

so, nothing that great or outstanding

NO MORE THEORY!!
um...
KNOW MORE THEORY!!!!

Currently working on a real mixture of stuff.

I'm not aiming to be a pro or a public performer, so I don't often work all the way through other people's songs and get them right up to a proper performance standard.

Instead I tend to get the basics going and then improvise and embellish around the chords, or some aspect of the song that catches my attention. I could try and claim that this is because I'm so irrepressibly creative, but I think it's actually just laziness. :?

But I do like writing my own stuff the best. So I have a work book which usually has about ten songs in (mostly taken from simple song books or tuition CDs) and I play through those, then start I noodling around constructing my own stuff. A bit of scale work and suchlike gets thrown in there too.

Plus I now have a mandolin and a banjo, so they get picked up and tortured a bit for a while too. Surprisingly easy to get some basic fun sounds happening, but will need a lot more work before I can make any claims to be able to play them with any real skill.

And there's a cheap clarinet in the local music shop that seems to be beckoning to me when I walk in too......

Cheers, Chris

Born to be wild - Just bought a new book with that in it. Fairly easy song.

Aqualung - Trying to relearn the solo...If I don't play a song for a few weeks I tend to forget and I haven't played this in a while.

Rparker - Melissa eh! I tried that about a year ago put it's just all lead and I had a hard time remembering all the notes. Someday I'll try and tackle that again

St. Peppers Lonely Heart Club band

Really want to get into some metal/hardcore but not sure where to start

I took my first real jaunt into Drop-D tuning the other night. I found "Outshined" by Soundgarden and started learning it. I loved this song back in the day. I got a good portion of it. I'll probably finish learning it soon.

Other than that, it's been all about playing every song I find in different keys.

Currently I am taking Improvising lessons from Tom Hess, so I have been improvising and composing material in E, Am, F#m(METAL) and the new key I love to play in Bm.

I have been messing with Ytse Jam and The Silent Man from Dream Theater

Last in Line from Dio (the solo shreds!!!! A harmonic minor I believe)
Get it On from Kingdom Come.....just stumbbled on that one. Cool solo though
Evil Eye from Malmsteen......one word.....WHEW!! ...but I am getting it down
