i recently purchased a lower end model eg523sc and it plays and sounds fantastic, the strings were replaced by annie allmans shop in savannah GA. and the set up was totally right on the money out of the case. it was the only guitar i've ever bought without seeing or trying it out. Tak is making great strides in improved quality overseas. imo.

Do it.

I had a Tacoma PKK40 solid koa which was just an amazing guitar.

Here's an update for you all,

Lost out on the Tacoma that was on E.Bay but not too worried about that.
Went to Music Live show last weekend and tried Avalons, Takamine's, Ovation's and Yamaha's and found that the Avalon had a much more rounded tone than the Taks and Yams and the finish on them is second to none but for sheer playability the Takamine's had the edge so now I've got to decide weather to trade tone for user friendlyness. I think I will go for tone! and I would love to have one of the USA Avalon's but boy are they expensive.
As far as the Ovation is concerned, I dont like the rounded back and the fancy sound holes, although Iwill agree they sound nice.
So in conclusion thanks to all who helped me out on this one, rest assured I read every invaluble word.

Many many thanks,

Rodders

If your looking at Takamine make sure to check out the EF341SC. I've got one and really like it, and it's in your price range at about $800.

If your looking to play plugged in, Takamine has the reputation of having some of the best preamps.

Well, if you can't make it, stay hard, stay hungry, stay alive, if you can, and meet me in a dream of this hard land.
