Strings should last between 30-40 hours of playing time. Minus some if you sweat a lot. The only strings I've seen that sound perfect were being picked by Joe Satriani.

I like DR strings or Ernie Ball Super slinkys. But everyone here will have different opinions. I don't like Dean Marley Blue Steel at all, but some people love them. What strings do you favorite guitarists use? They probably have the money to use any they want.

Someone far better than me said that "80% of tone is in the fingers".

Other things being equal, you can make that 99.99 %.

Just get the strings which don't break a lot and are on discount.

The high E's a pretty good one, but G and B aren't half-bad themselves.

Ba-dum ching!

try Boomers...a lot of metal and hard rock bands use them. but really, any decent brand will do...daddario, ernie ball, markley...whatever.

I don't like Dean Marley Blue Steel at all, but some people love them. I just put a set of these on my Jackson DK2, & I don't care for them; they just don't "feel" right. Going back to Ernie Balls as before, but the comment about the Boomers are catching my eye...I've heard others refer to them as well.

I usually use Ernie Ball super slinkies, I'm using roto pink 9's at the moment (because they were cheaper and had an extra high e) but I think I prefer the Ernie Balls. I'm actually looking to change gauge to something slightly thicker, maybe 10's. Reason is because I tune down quite a lot and at C# f# B E G# C# the nines get a little too floppy.
I heard Skinny top heavy bottoms were quite good, might look into them..
