If you want to play it like John you have to finger it like so:
Thumb is on the a string 3rd fret
Index is barring the d and g at 2nd fret
Middle is on the b string at 3rd fret
Ring is on g string at 4th fret
Pinky is taking care of the hammer ons at the 5th fret
Now, for the majority of people this shape is a bitch to play cleanly every time. Just getting your thumb up and over the low E and fretting the a while trying to maintain your reach with the pinky is extremely tough.
My question is: Has anyone here tried to play this? I'm also finding this pretty difficult. The author suggests a 'simple' version, but I'd like to play it the 'correct' way. Does anyone have any other tips?

player works for me with RP in IE but not in Firefox
edit: just tried a different song and that uses MP so it appears the encoding is on a song by song basis, ie some are RP some MP
