I was watching the new Queen + Paul Rodgers dvd and when they were doing "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" Paul Rodgers and Brian May had these wierd guitars. They were just the outline of a guitar with a frets and pickups. I was just wondering what kind of guitar it was since I've never seen one like that before. I'll try to get a screenshot either today or tommorrow.

Brian Mays father was a tech wizard I have read. he collabortaed with his son brian when Brian started experimenting with guitars and sound. there is one guitar where he had pickups mounted up the neck at different fret positions.

I don't know about toilet seat, but the guitar was built from a 100+ year old oak mantle piece, the vibrato arm is a knitting needle and the vibrato springs come fom a motor-bike (valve-springs, I think). The pickups are Burn's Tri-Sonics.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

Looks like the kind of guitar you'd play late at night so you wouldn't wake the neighbours up....but hell, I could do that with with an un-amplified electric....

One thing missing from the original post - what did they SOUND like?

:D :D :D

That's a cool Guitar.

Speaking of wierd guitars I once saw Jose Neto
play with Steve Winwood on TV.

His guitar was one of these:

It's a nylon string electric by Paradis called the Avalon.

Oh and it sounds awesome!

My middle age gut is obvious enough without using a see-through guitar. :D

I need something like this.
