some guitars
some amps
some effects

It ain't the gear it's the fingers on the strings ...

Just some curious guys. Of course your gear doesn't determine who you are or anything, we just want to know.

I know .. i'm always leary of topics like this though . . . too easy for folks to fall in the trap of "if I buy x i'll sound just as good as y"

I didn't start this topic for that, I started it just for fun... So, to make you happy, THIS TOPIC IS NOT, AND NEVER WAS, FOR COMPARING GEAR. IT WAS SOLEY FOR FUN!!!! There, problem solved..

Or maybe a low-wattage all tube amp. We'll see.

I'm excited about the Epiphone Valve Series... A 5 watt Class A all tube amp for 120 bucks!!!! :) Only fault that I see is only two controls, a on/off switch, and a volume, but isn't rock 'n roll made for cranking and rocking out?!?! :)

Ibanez GAX 70 - first electric guitar. plays and sounds fairly good. set up for slide now.

80's Ibanez Road Series - floyd style bridge, locking nut, bought it for 30 bucks because the guy thought it didn't work. had to solder a wire onto the input jack. works, looks and plays wonderfully

Fender Nashville Telecaster - i love it. white with a tortise shell scratchplate

Epiphone SG - bought it used for 50 bucks. Dimarzzio Humbuckers. low action. it plays excellent

Washburn D-10 - first acoustic guitar. plays and sounds good

Yamaha acoustic - bought it for 5 bucks off my brothers friend. best 5 bucks i've ever spent

70's Takamine 12 string - traded a 1996 MIM Tele for it. i think i made out pretty good. it sees the majoirty of my playing time these days

Fender Princeton Amp - 65w, reverb great clean sound

10w Orange Practice amp - it has it's "own" "unique" sound. comes in handy though

Digitech RP200a - good little multi effects pedal

and the thinnest fender picks i can find

Nice set of gear there Waltaia.......some say, it isn't what you got. it's what you do with it....for me, I just love to play guitar, all my guitars have a different purpose....IF I do buy the Epi Les Paul on Tuesday, then one of the elecrics is going to have thicker strings and be dedicated to open tunings.....

Wonder what Kiefer Sutherland does with all his guitars? Does he ever play 'em or are they just there for show? Can he play even? Are any of them in open tunings?

I've been writing songs for about 30 years now....the oldest ones that still survive date back to '74 (1) 81 (about 5 or 6 - that was a good year!!!)... the reason I bought all these different guitars is simple....I want to record my own songs and I want them to sound like the way I hear them in my head......

:D :D :D

Guitars are not for show.....they're for playing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude, that's a truckload of gear.

Got some new stuff myself, so my 12m2 bedroom/living room/studio (or whatever you call a one-room appartment) now features:

Guitars:
Dean Avalanche
Ibanez RG550
Ibanez PF60
Ortega R180

Amps/Effects:
Behringer GMX212
Behringer V-amp2
Boss GX700 19" Multi-FX
George Dennis wah/volume pedal
Vox AD30VT

Various:
Yamaha PRS220 keybord
Behringer UB1202FX mixer board
Behringer Xm1800 microphone set

When I get back from my holiday in Spain I'll add the following:

-Behringer BDI Bass DI box
-Dean EVO XM electric guitar
-Bass guitar (depending on what I spend in spain the Dean Edge 09 or Squier Affinity J-bass)

By then I can pretty much record what I want. 8)

Since the Jazz-band in which I played died I've started a new band with some other students. And since we completed the line-up a few months ago we've been writing our own stuff and stopped playing covers. We're in the process of recording two of our songs (one 90% done, needs some finishing and polishing), and we'll play the songs we've finished on our first 'gig' in front of +-50 family members and friends of our drummer who are celebrating a 25-year marriage anniversary.

To give an indication of the kind of music, this is our line-up:

Annemiek - Vocals, accoustic guitar
Marcel - Drums/percussion, backing vocals
Robin -Piano/keybord
Me - electric/accoustic guitar

The bass parts were done, so far, by me by plugging my Ibanez into a Pitch shifter and some other effects. In a few weeks I'll get myself a proper bass guitar, but it is possible a fifth, and final, dude or duderina will join to take care of the bass.

Have fun in Texas! 8)

I've got pics, but they are at home. If I remember, I'll post them later tonight when I get home.

I've got an Epiphone Les Paul Classic Plus and an Epiphone AJ100 acoustic. As for amps I've got a Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue and a Marshall MG15DFX. I've got one pedal which is an Ibanez TS-7. I've also got a Behringer XM8500 mic and Eurorack UB802 Mixer.

If it weren't for the fact my girlfriend and I just moved into a house, I'd have a Fender Tele as well. Now it'll probably have to wait until tax return time.
