Thanks Jim,

I really rate Godin Guitars and the action on this one is superb. There is no greater fan of Fender Strats than me but since having the Godin the Strat has hardly been used. OK the Godin sounds completely different but the action is like nothing I have ever played before and I have played a few.

Anyone starting out or looking for a reasonably priced high quality guitar should really give Godin's a look at. Canadian Company manufactured in Canada and assembled in the USA. One piece mahogany neck the same as Gibson and a lot less expensive than a Gibson or Fender. For playability this is up with both of them and even nudges past them in my opinion.

That looks like Gibson Dove !

Nice looking Strat Copy too. But your amp is the killer.

Thanks, its really the nicest amp i've ever played through...I'm pretty lucky to just have inherited it from my dad.

The Strat copy isn't as bad as I used to think it was, its just the bridge that annoys me. I put two black stripes on there as homeage to EVH...sad but its just a knock around thing until i get something nicer.

Beaner - wow. That is a sweet guitar - Yamaha know how to hit all the buttons.

Hey thanks for the comments about the guitar fellas. I must have changed my mind about a million times (maybe) before buying that guitar. But in the last two weeks i decided that it had to be a semi hollow. I've always been a fan of guys who turned out to play ES-335 type guitars, and after I tried an Epiphone Dot, well that was it. I couldn't afford the Dot and the Dot Studio just didn't feel the biz. The Yamaha sits right in the middle price-wise, but I hadn't picked up a Yamaha guitar in the shops I didn't like (Pacificas, AES's, FG acoustics, all great).

When I got it home it was terrible. All 3 high strings fretted at the second fret when you play at the first fret, and seeing as i am a beginner (again) nearly all my work was there. I took it back and they restringed it and did a setup and it plays great. It has such beautiful sustain and a natural fast vibrato. I only had enough money left over for a DigiTech RP50 which I practice through, but I would love to play it through something like a Fender Twin.

Regards,
Paul

@Rodders: Yamaha do it again. That's a beauty.

I love this thread.

I wish I could print out the whole thread and then all the guitars come out from the pages in reality. (Isn't there some kind of tale...you paint something and it turns real ?).

Dreams aside, that's a gorgeous guitar Rodders. Hope it plays as great as it looks.

Jealous me.

Those Yamaha guitars are sweet looking. I've always loved the looks of their hollowbodies and the SBG.

Rob,

Your Yamaha is very very pretty. And the son looks so cute.

Hope the Framus still gets played. Nice Epi LP and the Tele there.

Seems like lots of us own (or owned) a yamaha at some point of our guitar careers.
