I have a Jackson Dinky w/ a licensed Floyd Rose, and a Crate Solid 120 watt amp.
I have to find a job to pay for a good guitar.
They're a bit expensive for me but next time my choice is between rent and music, I'll know what's worth it!
How much a month can you set aside? It took me years to practice financial discipline but it sounds like you must have some income or you couldn't pay your rent :( .
Most of the online biggies and catalog-senders will float loans for gear, unsurprisingly the credit companies they use consider no credit to be better than bad credit. All you have to do is make sure you can afford it and pay it off in the allotted interest-free period and pay for it. If you miss a payment, or don't pay it off in the 6 mos (or whatever) period then the really high rates kick in and they are nothing if not usury.
You don't have to pay a lot of money for a decent guitar and amp, even from a big retailer like MF or GC.
Just my $.02
Good luck!
Peace,
Jick
Wait, whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

sweet Ibanez, nice finish on it.
Thanks guys. She is pretty sweet looking isn't she. I didn't go looking for a black one, but she sounded the best in my price range. She is just a pick-up-and-play guitar, but I think I'm in love.
My latest attack....
