This is more than enough. Way too much. I could be happy right now with my Epi LP Custom and my Blues Deluxe were we forced to down-size living space) It is embarrassingly fun to play with all my toys though.

Guitars:
'04 Taylor 214
Epi LP Custom (everything aside from toggle switch is stock)
Epi LP Standard Plus Top (SD '59 and 'Duncan Distortion' pickups)
Ibanez GAX 70
Floyd Rose DS-1 (GFS P-90s, added tone POT as it did not have one. My $100 guitar gem)
ESP LTD M-252
Gretsch Electromatic 5120
Squire Affinity Tele (with Fender American Tele stock pickups, given to me from a friend)
PRS SE Paul Allender model
Fender MIM Tele (GFS split r pickup in neck position, low E string and tuner removed and in open G. This is my Keith Richards' inspired "keefocaster")

Pedals and Multi Effects Units
Boss GT-10
Behringer V-Amp2
Boss GE-7 Equaliser
Boss Distortion/Overdrive (forgot model number/name and too lazy to go look)
Ibanez TSD9X (overdrive pedal)
Boss Compressor (forgot model number/name and too lazy to go look)
'Lil Big Muff Pi Fuzz pedal

Amps
Fender Champion 30 DSP (solid state Fender now discontinued and currently used for GT-10 output)
Fender Super Champ Deluxe (hybrid 15W Tube with digital voicings and onboard effects available. Speaker replaced with Eminence Rajun Cajun making this thing sound sweet)
Fender Blues Deluxe Re-Issue (40W tube amp....my fav)
Behringer 3000 Keyboard/PA Amp (I plug my GT-10 and/or my V-Amp into it sometimes)

I've actually had to significantly downsize my gear in the past month or so...we have a baby on the way and I lose my guitar room in lieu of a nursery. So I sold more than half my stuff and I'm using the cash to buy a new Bass next weekend. Well, I hope I'll be buying a new bass next weekend. I've got my eye on a Fender 70s Reissue or a geddy lee...

Anyway, my streamlined list of gear:

Guitars:
2008 Fender American Standard Telecaster (sunburst, maple neck)
2005 Fender Standard Stratorcaster (Tuned Open-G, wine red, maple neck)
2002 Martin DX1 (my favorite)
1991 Washburn D-12-12N

Amps:
Vox Valvetronix AD30
Peavey 158 bass amp

Effects:
MXR Dyna Comp
Dunlop Classic Wah
Boss DS1 Distortion
Danelectro FAB Overdrive (my favorite pedal...go figure)
ProCo Rat 2

So as you can see, very streamlined for me...i've gotten rid of my Phaser, my digital delay, my EQ, my Gretsch, my old Jazz Bass, my Ibanez, my Epi amp and a bunch of old pickups and other misc things. I do however want to eventually pickup an analog delay, pref a memory man but those are expensive...maybe if I get a great deal on a new bass next weekend.

I bet downsizing hurts to do. I hope I never have to, but i bet it's inevitable.

Maybe upgrade your headphone situation with some of the proceeds? Or not. We made noise while he slept all the same and he can sleep thourh anything as a result. In fact, we might have done too good a job.

I don't think I'll have to upgrade my headphones...my Vox amp has a built-in power attenuator so the volume can stay really really low and still maintain good crunch. the bass amp sounds great at really low volumes too...i can't crank it with the neighbors so close in my building anyway, so it shouldn't be any different.

and yeah I didn't enjoy it. when I sold my Gretsch I was pretty sad, and I wasn't too happy to see the Epi amp go either, but it makes me feel better to know I'm getting a new bass out of it...my old MIM jazz was starting to fall apart (sold that too).

Today, if all goes to plan, I'll be selling my Tascam.

My birthday was this past friday, but because of the snow, I haven't gotten gifts from my family yet and I almost always get a GC gift card...so that's why I'm hoping for a Geddy Lee.

I know mine is but a simple Electromatic made overseas somewhere, but I would hate to part with it. I can fee your pain.

Good about the volume too. My GT-10 has power limiter. I can play some really hard stuff and incrediblt low volumes. Love it, although some of the tones themselves get to me a bit even turned down low.

Goog luck getting your desired bass. Let us know how it turns out. I've got my son's bass here in the house and David's book should I ever get that desire to lay a bass track down. Stupid too, was that I got a bass sound effect coming from a guitar and used that as a bass line in November. While it turned out alright, it would have been much easier with the proper instrument.

How did those two U2 concerts go? I missed the concert report.

thanks for asking Roy...I know I haven't been around lately but things have been busy as you can imagine...

and at the risk of hijacking the thread...

THEY WERE GREAT! On Night 1, my good friend Kristen and I camped out at Giants Stadium at 9am, and ultimately we ended up approximately 3 rows from Bono, which, weddings and births aside, was the coolest thing I've ever done. I'll never forget that...I was so close I could see Bono and the Edge mouthing to each other, and I even caught Bono ribbing on the Edge for flubbing a guitar line. It was oddly touching. They covered Springsteen's She's the One and it was the best show I've ever seen.

Night 2 was my wife's inaugural U2 show and she loved it...but she says she loved how I enjyoed it more than the show lol. Both shows were great.

and back on topic...

my Gretsch was the Korean electromatic too. solid body junior LP. It is a nice consolation prize to be playing the MIA Tele instead. as sad as I was to get rid of the gear, i do kind of enjoy having a much more "focused" collection.

I've still not seen them, and they played just 20 minutes form the house a few months back. Ears not ready yet for a show.

I just looked at their tour site. Looks like a 2010 visit to Philly.

I bet it was tough to let that Electromatic go. Talk about a pretty gee-tar. Nice playing and sounding to boot.

Roy:

I've got tickets to that Philly show and the show at New Giants Stadium. However, it just so happens that the baby is due the same week as both of those concerts, so my attendance is questionable.

And yes it was really hard to get rid of the Gretsch, but I'll get another one in a few years when I have bigger house and a better job :)

Notes:

That Gibson is GORGEOUS.

what are those instruments below the sax?

I love the Gibson. It's a 1970 made in Kalamazoo 330. I bought the Casino to bring on stage because switching instruments is a sure way to have an accident with what has now become a collector's item.

I modded the LTD myself (my very first mod) with GFS Mean 90 pickups, 1 vol (instead of 2) and the Varitone. I also put our duos logo on it (The Sophisticats http://www.s-cats.com ). It's now my go-to guitar for most gigs, especially those outdoors or in smoky clubs. It has a great neck, and with the 90s and varitone I can get a variety of sounds out of it. But the Gibson is my first love and what I do most of my practicing on.

The sax is a MacSax and it was custom finished in Taiwan for me. The manufacturer liked it so much, he is going to issue them as my own "signature" model. I'll be the most un-famous sax player with a signature model ;-)

If you are interested, there are a few more pictures of the sax here: http://www.nortonmusic.com/macsax.html - some of the engraving on the sax is really nice. I also like how it picks up some different colors depending what it's near.

The instruments you asked about are wind MIDI controllers. They finger close to sax/flute and send out MIDI data to a small synthesizer module. You can do a lot of things with the wind synth that you cannot do with a keyboard controller. Especially emulating other instruments. A couple of sax and guitar emulations with the Yamaha WX5 Wind MIDI Controller and the Yamaha VL70-m Physical Modeling Synth Module can be heard here: http://www.nortonmusic.com/clips.html

The Yamaha WX5 stock looks like this:

I had mine "pimped" with some adhesive mylar by a friend who is on a wind synth forum with me.

Wow Notes I think you have an idea for a new show "Pimp my Synth" you go around looking for bad, busted up MIDI Controlles and them pimp them out with huge stereo speakers, maybe a bar, custom paint..I like 22's on my Synth.

And have someone airbrush those scantily-clad video-game females on them.

Now all I need is some financing.

Any backers here?
