Ok, so last night I was playing my guitar and it was fine. Then today I get home from work and play and all I hear is a BZZZZZZZZZZZ. I was running a Squier 51 through some pedals into a Vox Valvetronix. It did this buzzing on all 3 pickup equpped guitars i own. So i let it sit and went to the mall. When I got back, I plugged it in and it was soooooo quiet and sounded great again. What caused the buzzing and humming?

Just a wild guess but it sounds as if something might have been running on the same electrical circut and putting out an electro magnetic field. Could be anything and not necessarily close by, depending on how your house is wired.

I would put my money on it being that or definately something else.

Way to commit.

My amp had a horrible crackling going on once, the plug was just barely making contact.

try turning some of the lights off in the house.

I've been imitated so well I've heard people copy my mistakes.

Well I'll try that next time it buzzes, if it buzzzes again. One interesting note, during the buzz, when I turned on my Boss Distortion, it started to feedback, getting louder and louder till it ended with this really nice musical feedback. Then I turned it off and it stopped. Interesting

Turn off the master power switch on your house's circuit breaker box. That'll stop the buzzing.

Are you close to a CRT monitor :?: I had problems with humming with the single coil pickups till i got a flat-screen for my pc.

Sometimes I think turning off the main breaker IS a good idea

I've got a flat-screen on my laptop, but everything electrical that was on/off during the playing is ALWAYS on/off. And it was doing it with humbuckers, single coils and piezo pickups.

Have you tested any of your guitar cables? Perhaps one has a short and when it turn enough to not be shorted you. What about not having a cable plugged all the way in.

Sounds to me like ground looping. Something may have been ground looping when you had it on the time it was buzzing. You'll find that an amp has a couple of grounds to stop this kind of feedback. I wonder.

Any transformers around... did you have a phone charger working ?
